\What is Personally Identifiable Information or PII?
Personally Identifiable Information or PII is information that can be used, by itself, or together with other information, to identify a single person.
The following are examples of what might be considered PII:
- Full name
- Data of birth
- Birthplace
- Fingerprints
- Face picture
- Genetic information
- Home address
- Telephone number
- National identification number (e.g., social security number in U.S.)
- Passport
- Driver’s license number
- Vehicle registration plate number
- Screen login name
In Europe, PII is referred to as Personal Data.
