The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) is an independent data protection authority that ensures that European institutions and bodies respect privacy and data protection when processing personal data.
The EDPS also acts as a center of excellence in privacy and data protection, advises other EU institutions on matters related to personal data processing, monitors relevant technology, intervenes before the Court of Justice as expert on data protection law, cooperates with national supervisory authorities, provides opinions on personal data processing, and participates as a member of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB).
